Un tercio de la flota mundial elegible ha sido incluida en el Registro mundial
Un tercio de la flota mundial elegible se ha registrado en el Sistema de información del Registro mundial de buques pesqueros, transporte, refrigerado y suministro (Registro mundial), la cuál se dio a conocer públicamente el día de hoy.
El Sistema de Información fue lanzado durante un evento paralelo al 33 ° período de sesiones del Comité de Pesca (COFI), celebrado en la Sede de la FAO en Roma (Italia).
De un cálculo total de 24 000 buques elegibles, a los que se ha asignado un número de la OMI, considerado un requisito previo para el Registro mundial, ya se ha ingresado al sistema de información datos de más de 8 300 buques. Los Estados Unidos de América, América Latina y Europa son los principales contribuidores hasta la fecha.
Esta cifra también incluye un tercio de la flota mundial estimada para los buques de transporte y suministro que apoyan a los buques pesqueros en sus operaciones.
Aunque el Registro mundial se centra actualmente en la Fase 1 (buques de 100 toneladas o 24 metros o más), los datos presentados hasta la fecha abarcan buques de todos los tamaños, incluidos algunos de menos de 12 metros, lo que indica la voluntad de los Estados de aumentar la transparencia en flotas con números IMO independientemente del tamaño.
El Sistema de Información del Registro mundial recopila y difunde información certificada e inequívoca sobre los buques y las actividades relacionadas con los buques proporcionadas por las autoridades oficiales del Estado que es responsable de la embarcación, junto con información histórica, como datos sobre buques que no están actualmente operativos o que tienen autorización de pesca.
En esta etapa, los Estados están cargando principalmente los detalles del buque para construir la base del Sistema de Información al cual se incluirán datos adicionales a su debido tiempo, como autorizaciones e información histórica sobre el cumplimiento.
Hasta hoy, cuarenta y ocho Estados han cargado información en el Registro mundial. Esto representa casi un tercio de los Estados con flotas.
